CDA College Scholarship Program

Investing in Our Conservation Future

The California Deer Association has set up our scholarship program as a combination of academic recognition and financial assistance. This scholarship fund is a dual commitment on the part of the California Deer Association and the student, to pursue an education and career in the field of Resource Management or Wildlife Biology.

Program Administration

This scholarship is administered by the Scholarship Committee, with oversight and final approval from the Board of Directors.

Funding and Stewardship

Initial funding was established by the scholarship founder and is sustained through annual donations and gifts. The Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors are responsible for maintaining the fund’s principal balance and ensuring its continued use for educational purposes.

Eligibility and criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a family member of a CDA member, or submit a personal, written recommendation from a CDA member.

Maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA and be enrolled as a full-time student.

Pursue a field of study aligned with Resource Management or Wildlife Biology.

Applicant Responsibilities

To remain eligible for funding, recipients must:

Submit a copy of their course schedule as soon as it becomes available.

Maintain satisfactory academic standing throughout the scholarship year.

Understand that delays in submitting grades will result in delayed disbursement of funds.

Committee Oversight and disbursement

The Scholarship Committee must approve each proposed academic program for the scholarship year.  Changes require prior committee approval to maintain eligibility for scholarship award.

The Committee and Board will annually determine the scholarship amount. Funds will be disbursed directly to the student and must be used for direct educational expenses.

Selection Process

The selection of a recipient will be awarded on a competitive basis.  It will be awarded on an Achievement or Merit Basis as determined by academic excellence, major field of study, Letter(s) of Recommendation, and leadership qualities.  Confirmation of the recommendation will be made by the Scholarship Committee, with the approval of the California Deer Association Board of Directors.
