Daugherty Hill Wildlife Area Habitat Enhancement-

Project Info

Project Description

The Yuba County Fish and Game Commission in conjunction with CDA North Valley and Gridley Chapter volunteers will place one mile of linear fence up to start rotating cattle through Daugherty Hill on a two year off, one year on cycle in order to manage the vegetation growing in the area. This type of vegetation management works well when an area is dominated by invasive grasses, which is preferred grazing for cattle, instead of native perennial forbs, which is preferred forage for deer. By allowing cattle to reduce the amount of grass in the area forbs are able to grow and provide more resources for deer.
